Last month our youth project The Filter invited four Welsh youth groups to attend a residential in Romania, enabling them to share ideas about tackling tobacco with other young people from Romania, Spain, Belarus and Austria. The week-long training event, run by The Filter team, delivered a variety of workshops and activities to over 60 young people from across Europe in Brazia, Romania as part of 'The Filter Europe', an Erasmus+ funded, 2-year project.
Welsh participants came from Conwy Youth Service in North Wales, Ceredigion Youth Service in Aberystwyth, and Merthyr's Forsythia Youth Project and Stephens & George Centenary Trust. Among all of the hard work, there was time for a cultural trip to see Dracula's Castle in Transylvania.
The aim of the training course was to give the young people information so they could deliver smoking workshops in their own countries and work with even more young people. The Welsh and Romanian participants have already started delivering workshops locally.
