Respond to this final opportunity to register objections to prevent a dangerous precedent being set for future amendments to our smoking legislation on commercial grounds.
As you may be aware two Welsh Assembly sub committees have been formed to hear evidence on the proposed exemption to the smoking ban for the film and TV industry in Wales. This follows the withdrawal of a Senedd vote on the issue in October after pressure from AMs, healthcare organisations and bodies like ASH Wales and the Wales Tobacco Control Alliance.
It is now essential that as many people and organisations as possible respond to this final opportunity to register their objections in order to prevent a dangerous precedent being set for future amendments to our smoking legislation on commercial grounds. Any amendment will also have an impact on the other UK nations currently without an exemption.
The deadline for submissions is January 18th and the link is here
Information about the consultation here
We are asking both individuals and organisations to submit a brief response outlining their opposition to any exemption to the smoking legislation. It is possible to send in your original response to the consultation on the issue earlier this year.
ASH Wales will be submitting a new response to the committees in due course which we can also share with you. Please email us for a copy.
Please also sign and share the petition against the exemption if you have not already done so.
Let’s #keeptheban strong in Wales! Thank you for your support.
