On 12th May we hosted an event at the Senedd called A Smokefree Generation for Wales. The event was sponsored by the Chair of the Health and Social Care Committee and Assembly Member for Aberavon David Rees.
We called for the Welsh Government and partners to work towards an ‘endgame’ goal – where smoking is eliminated completely for the next generation – a smokefree generation. Our calls included a focus on Smokefree Spaces, tackling illegal tobacco and prioritising smoking prevention and cessation services for young people in Wales.
Speakers at the event included the Deputy Minister for Health and Assembly Member for Cardiff South and Penarth Vaughan Gething, The Filter Youth Development Team and Cerys Humphreys who is the Healthy Lifestyles Development Manager at Gwynedd County Council.
