This interactive and informative session introduces Filter the Facts, an educational resource which has been developed for use in secondary schools, alternative education provisions and youth groups. Filter the Facts contains a range of lesson plans for various subjects with the aim to educate and create awareness of the dangers of smoking, to discourage young people from starting smoking and to encourage those already smoking to quit.
Lesson plans have been designed to complement National Curriculum key stage 3 and can be adapted to suit the needs of your learners.
To develop knowledge, skills and confidence to implement and deliver an educational smoking resource to increase young people’s awareness and knowledge around smoking and tobacco related issues.
- Use Filter the Facts appropriately in your educational settings.
- Adapt the resource lesson plans in order to suit the young people you are working with.
- Understand how to prepare and arrange the materials provided, in order to fit in with the key messages and learning outcomes.
- Signpost young people to age appropriate services for further information, and for support and advice on how to quit smoking.
Well-presented and relevant information. I feel more confident in offering one-to-one work and PSE sessions in school.
